Canada will process the temporary visa, ETAs, and other documents online.

IRCC will keep on handling applications for the online temporary resident visa (TRV) and electronic travel authorizations (ETAs) just as well as other documents submitted online until January 31, 2021.

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have declared that the process of TRV applications and ETAs will continue into the New Year. New classes of candidates have likewise been added to the list of those who are exempt from submitting TRV applications electronically.

Those who are unable to submit their application online, because of an inconvenience were already exempt from this demand and can still be exempt. Beginning October 1, 2020, two new teams of candidates for temporary residence from outside North American country are exempt from the web submission requirement:

  • Candidates under the Seasonal Agricultural Workers Program.
  • Foreign nationals holding an identity or travel document of the type issued by a country to non-national residents, refugees, or stateless persons who are unable to obtain a passport or other travel documents from their country of citizenship.

The government of Canada has stated that priority can still lean to those that will travel under current travel restrictions and that both new and existing applications will be thought of.

To be approved, even though they meet travel restrictions exemption criteria, all candidates should still meet the eligibility needs stated by the Immigration and expatriate Protection Act (IRPA).

Candidates who applied before the travel limitations and hope to be considered on a priority basis are asked to contact Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) at IRCC.COVID-TravelExemptions-Exemptionsdevoyage-COVID.IRCC@cic.gc.ca indicate how they meet the standards for exemption, explain the reason for their non-discretionary/non-optional travel and submit acceptable proof.
