Candidates who have obtained LOI have been trapped due to the travel restrictions due to the Coronavirus. The process for LOI holders will vary for candidates who are coming to study and for candidates who are coming for work.

The authorities will review the study permit application to verify that the name of the Designated Learning Institution within the request matches the letter of acceptance. They will likewise verify whether the DLI the candidate has been enrolled in is still accepting international students and that their program has not been dropped. Finally, they should be happy that they still have funding for tuition, living expenses, and money to return.

The Immigration Department will check that the name of the employer on the Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or LMIA exemption proposal matches the name provided in the application submitted by the candidate. They will likewise search for any worries or case notes entered after the approval was issued.

Authorities may contact the employer to verify the work offer. They may likewise contact the candidate for a meeting if they think it is important.

Authorities will check open-source information to verify the employer. If the permit is refused due to any reason, it should be followed up with a procedural process.

If work or study permit has been denied, authorities should send a note indicating why they reached a negative decision based on the application. They should also advise the candidate to leave Canada when their status expires or suggest further steps if the immigrant is out of status.

Candidates whose permits have been approved will receive their documents by mail and will eventually be able to work or study in Canada.
