UK Tops Among All The Study Abroad Destinations Followed By Canada, US

According to data from over 75,000 applications processed by Leap Scholar, a study abroad consultancy, the United Kingdom is the most popular study abroad destination, followed by Canada and the United States.

The statistical analysis identified several intriguing trends that occurred in 2021. The United Kingdom is the most popular country, accounting for 49% of all applications for the year, followed by Canada (36%), and the United States (18%).

MBA, MSc Data Science, and Computer Science were the most popular programs for study abroad in 2021, while MSc Management, Business Analytics, and Project Management showed a surge in popularity.

This year has seen an increase in the number of students opting for specialized courses. “2021 has seen a pent-up demand in the study abroad space and the aspiration to go overseas for education is higher than ever among students. They are exploring new and diverse ambitions,” said Vaibhav Singh, co-founder of Leap Scholar.

The establishment of the Graduation Immigration Route has increased interest in the United Kingdom as a study abroad destination. Students graduating from UK universities can now work in the UK for up to two years under the new policy. This pattern is forecasted to continue in 2022.

Canada remained a popular destination for students, owing to a wide range of educational opportunities and a student-friendly policy posture. The United States saw an especially significant rebound, owing to the new political administration’s accommodating attitude toward overseas students.

From 2015 to 2020, Canada had a 431 per cent increase in international student enrollment from India, with 1,61,351 students added.

When compared to the United States, Canada has experienced rapid growth.

The total number of Indian students in the United States has likewise increased.

However, the rise of 60,236 students only resulted in a 45% increase, indicating that students from India enrolled in higher education institutions in Canada in bigger numbers and at a far faster rate than students from the United States over the last five years.

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a considerable impact on the flow of foreign students crossing borders to pursue educational opportunities, prompting higher education systems around the world to analyze the context and realities of global academic mobility before and after the health catastrophe.

The option to stay in a country after graduation has become an increasingly crucial aspect in selecting a place to study in. This may have contributed to the decline in popularity of the United States, as the country has stricter visa policies for international graduates.

When choosing the UK as a study destination, international students can gain financial. To begin with, a degree in the United Kingdom takes less time to finish than in other nations. In many countries, a four-year degree plus two or three further years are required to obtain a postgraduate degree.

In the United Kingdom, an undergraduate degree takes three years to complete, while a postgraduate qualification requires an additional year. Degrees from UK higher education providers are acknowledged all around the world, and there is a wide range of courses to choose from.

The British standards are highly regarded, with experts on many academic disciplines, and they are consistently ranked high in international university rankings, making the UK an excellent study location.
