Types of offer letters

An offer letter is a document that signifies that a student has been approved for a program applied for and that he/she can continue with the next steps, depending on the type of offer letter they receive i.e. conditional or unconditional.

Purpose of an offer letter

Offer letters are also called Financial Aid. Offer Letters tells you how much exactly your college is going to cost you for the number of years you are going to study there. It also provides a number of ways to help you fund that education through grants, scholarships and loans with the help of your school, the federal government and the state.

Conditional offer letter

A conditional offer letter means that one is given provisional admission to the university under certain conditions. Once the student meets the conditions, the offer letter becomes unconditional which also means that the admission is confirmed.

A student can  accept an offer letter as soon as the offer letter changes into an unconditional one which is followed by paying the tuition for the first semester and buying an International Student Health cover for the full span of the program.

Some of the most common conditions that can be stated in the conditional offer are as follows:

1.Academic conditions

In this situation the university asks the students to present certain academic scores.

For example, If you are a 12th grade student and have been issued a conditional offer letter for a Bachelor’s degree, the institution will specify a certain grade that you need to accomplish in your 12th grade to change it into an unconditional offer letter.

Also, If you are pursuing a Bachelor’s degree and have issued a conditional letter for a Master’s degree, the university will specify a certain percentage that you need to earn in your Bachelor’s degree before you accept the offer.

2.   English language proficiency

If you have not submitted your English language proficiency test result while submitting your application, the college will provide you with an offer letter that will be subject to the results of your English language proficiency test. Many universities demand a band of 6.5 out of 9.0 in IELTS with no subset less than 6.0, including Speaking, Writing, Reading and Listening.

3.   Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE)

Genuine Temporary Entrant is one of the most significant criteria that universities are calling for. Typically, under this situation, universities like to know the purpose, and whether the applicant qualifies as a decent student in accordance with the guidelines provided by them. The universities could ask for your financial records, a statement of purpose (SOP) with a sincere intention to review and check all the documents, including work experience, which should be validated by one’s agent.

How to write a great acceptance letter

  • Be enthusiastic
  • Discuss important or upcoming things
  • List all the attachments
  • End politely
  • And don’t forget to write about your declined offer letters

What is an unconditional offer letter

Institutions provide an unconditional offer letter to foreign students who have fulfilled all the criteria for admission. This means that the student has already been approved as a student at the institution and now he/she simply needs to issue the unconditional letter of offer in order to continue with one’s acceptance process.

To ensure the admission, the first thing to do is pay the acceptance fee, which is generally the first semester of school fees, along with the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the entire length of the program. When this is completed, the universities issue an eCOE Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE) letter that is needed to submit the visa application.

How long does it take to receive an offer letter

There is no specific time period of the letter bid. Usually, one week is the average time that businesses take to receive permits, produce a letter of offer and start the background verification process. You should always get in touch with your visa consultant and get to know the timetable.

An advice to follow

It is advisable to apply for a visa only after the unconditional offer letter is received. Although, in certain situations, one can also accept a conditional offer letter to receive a conditional visa, one must ensure that it is necessary to comply with all the requirements set out in the offer letter before traveling to the country of study. It is advisable to go through one’s offer letter precisely before accepting it in order to eliminate any last minute problems.
