Canada’s Immigration Levels Plan 2021-2023 provides a boost for international students.

The new Immigration Levels Plans announced by Canada are being looked upon as a positive sign for immigrants who aspire to study in Canada.

Immigration Levels Plan is announced by the government of Canada every year, and it gives an outline about the target number of immigrants who will be invited to apply for Canadian Permanent residence by the government in the upcoming years and also gives details about the categories under which they will be admitted. The categories under which candidates are admitted is as follows:

·       Economic

·       Family

·       Refugee

·       Humanitarian and compassionate grounds.

Canada is on its way to make history and aim for a record-breaking immigration level in its history. The high level of immigration planned is due to the steep decline in Canada’s immigration rate and its population growth caused due to the Coronavirus pandemic and to boost Canada’s economy and labor market.

As per the immigration plan, Canada is targeting the following level of new permanent residents:

In 2021, Canada is set to welcome 401,000 immigrants.

In 2022, Canada is set to welcome 411,000 immigrants.

In 2023, Canada will target the highest number of immigrants in its history by inviting 421,000 immigrants to apply for permanent residence.

IRCC has stated the category from which they are aiming to target the highest number of candidates is economic immigrants. Canada has set a target of bringing 723,500 of this category into the country between the years 2021 and 2023.

60% of all immigrants in the 2021-2023 immigration plans will be invited under the economic class programs, which will include the Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Program.

This is a huge boost for students as mostly all students fall under the Economic class category.

Canada is an educational hotspot and attracts students from all around the world because of its world-class education, affordable cost of living, and immigrant-friendly rules.

There are various advantages of studying in Canada, such as the high academic standards of Universities which are globally recognized. There are various scholarships available for financially weak yet academically bright students. Moreover, the process of acquiring a study permit and subsequently work permit is also quite easy for immigrants who wish to study or work in Canada.

A study permit is considered as one of the main pathways to get the status of permanent residence in Canada. Students who obtain a study permit and complete their graduation are eligible to obtain the Canadian work permit and can work for any employer anywhere in Canada for the same duration as of their graduate course.
