Benefits of purchasing a student travel insurance plan for studying abroad

The Covid-19 outbreak has compelled universities around the world to reconsider their university education methodologies, but it has had almost no influence on international students’ plans for studying abroad.

Regardless of the obstacles, over 91 percent of Indian students say they want to attend a foreign university as quickly as the situation improves. Even though many students are reconsidering their study-abroad plans, students all over the world claim that the outbreak has not affected their plans to obtain a degree from a top-tier university abroad. Students from India who wish to pursue higher education at a foreign university should purchase a student travel insurance policy.

International students are required to have student insurance in some nations, such as the United States. Even though the university does not require it, students should always purchase this insurance for their own financial security. In the developed countries, the cost of medical treatment is substantially high.  Often universities will require you to have health insurance cover. If you don’t get one before flying out, you’ll have to pay for the university’s medical insurance as part of your tuition fees. Even if the university does not require a cover, purchasing one will advantage you. If you get sick while traveling, your regular health insurance of the home country will not benefit you.

You will spend more time abroad than business or leisure travelers, and you will most likely require medical treatment at a certain point. The risks have only increased and have become uncertain in the current pandemic times. The healthcare costs in nations such as the United States, for example, are outrageously high, and hospitalization for COVID-19 or even other illnesses could flush out your family’s savings.

Moreover, with exception of regular international travel insurance, student travel policies cover additional expenses. For instance, a missed flight connection lost luggage or a lost passport. If the parents or guardians – who finance insured students’ tuition costs pass away, the insurance provider will pay the balance fee up to the amount insured. These policies also cover your parents’ return two-way air tickets if they need to travel while you’re in the hospital.
