Canada: Alberta Issues 100 Immigration Invitations Under Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program

In a new draw, Alberta has issued 100 Canada immigration invitations through the Express Entry-linked stream of the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program. Given that the majority of this year’s Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) draws have invited more than 200 candidates at a time, this was a relatively small draw. Only one other draw in January had a prize pool of less than 100, and the smallest was 50.

The lowest Comprehensive Ranking System score of 350 was required for the November 24 draw, which was seven points higher than the previous draw. Candidates for the Alberta Express Entry stream must have expressed a desire to immigrate permanently to the province and work in an occupation that appears to support Alberta’s economic development and diversification. The federal government has set a nomination limit of 6,250 for Alberta in 2021.

So far, 6,094 nominations have been issued.

In addition, the province has 400 Alberta Opportunity Stream applications and 825 expressions of interest in the Alberta Express Entry pool. According to Alberta, a large number of AINP applications have been obtained in the below-mentioned professions, implying that they will take longer to process. The professions have been listed with their respective codes.

  • 6311 – Foodservice supervisors
  • 7511 – Transport truck drivers
  • 6211 – Retail sales supervisors
  • 6322 – Cooks
  • 1241 – Administrative assistants
  • 1221 – Administrative officers
  • 9462 – Industrial butchers and meat cutters, poultry preparers, and related workers
  • 4214 – Early childhood educators and assistants
  • 0621 – Retail and wholesale trade managers
  • 0631 – Restaurant and food service managers

Candidates must meet the following requirements in order to be considered for notification of interest:

  • Must possess an Express Entry profile in the federal Express Entry pool that is active.
  • Have expressed a desire to live in Alberta permanently.
  • Work in a field that contributes to Alberta’s economic expansion and improvement.
  • A minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 300 points is required.

Conditions that can increase a candidate’s probability of gaining an expression of interest include:

  • An offer of employment from an Albertan employer and/or work experience in Alberta
  • Having completed a post-secondary education program in Canada.
  • Having a relative in Alberta, such as a parent, child, or sibling.

Factors that reduce a candidate’s chances of receiving an expression of interest include:

  • The Express Entry profile will expire in three months.
  • You are employed in an unqualified work occupation.

The Alberta Express Entry stream is a streamlined version of the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). It enables the provincial government to seek the federal government’s Express Entry pool for people’s profiles who might be qualified for a provincial nomination.

The Express Entry application management system is used for the three Federal High Skilled programs: Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Federal Skilled Trades Program.

The IRCC holds Express Entry draws on a regular basis, inviting the highest-scoring candidates to apply for permanent residence. It is feasible to immigrate without a provincial nomination through the Express Entry system; however, people with lower CRS scores may choose to apply for a PNP.

All the applicants who are provincial nominees receive an automatic 600-point boost to their overall score. The nomination of the lowest-scoring candidates in the new Alberta draw makes up their score to 900, which will be more than enough to be invited to the next Express Entry draw.
