The cancellation of the CBSE examinations for Class XII has caused quite a concern among many students. This uncertainty has brought them into a dilemma whether the alternative evaluation method will influence their chances to pursue further education, particularly those who plan to go abroad for studies.
Students planning to depart for other countries after completing their Class 12 studies may get benefitted by August. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is in the works to release the results in the coming months, and will take into account both the domestic and global academic calendars.
The board, on the other hand, attempts to deliver the results as quickly as possible after the the right balanced method of allocating marks is chosen.
According to CBSE Secretary Anurag Tripathi, the board is working on establishing standards for the marking scheme. He did not give any timeframes but admitted that the procedure is rather time-consuming and that the students shall remain patient.
Tripathi noted that, although he did not want to set any deadlines because it could’ve resulted in students becoming more anxious, the goal has always been to finish the exercise in two months, which includes the declaration of the result.
The board has ensured that the results are announced by August as students get admitted to higher education schools based on their Class 12 grades which shan’t wait.
Selecting the criterion is a difficult undertaking as recognized by the top CBSE official, and the board needed to come up with a solution that is not fair and objective and should sync with students’ popular opinion.
He stated that the board will engage schools as well as students in this regard after all it is their careers at stake and they should be let in on the decision.
Indian students have already missed the deadline for applying to international universities. As a result, we are likely to see some students either deferring their intake to the next available semester or start late. Although, US aspirants may be less affected since most of the universities take a more holistic approach to admissions giving board scores fairly less weight.
On the other hand, nations such as the UK and Canada require students to submit their final 12th grades and supporting paperwork by July or August. It is expected in the given circumstances that the Indian students are allowed a 30-day delay by the international colleges to submit their final grades.
There is still the silver lining that universities in the international community regard India as a significant market and have always favored Indian students and will undoubtedly assist Indian students after taking into account the scenario here.
