New paths to residency unveiled for several immigrant classes.

IRCC is offering paths to permanent residency for 90,000 foreign students and necessary jobs in Canada, as well as an unrestricted number of French-speaking candidates. This May, six new paths to permanent residency will open up for essential jobs, foreign student learners, and French speakers in Canada. Marco Mendicino, Canada’s immigration minister, confirmed the latest initiatives on April 14. Three of the proposed programmes would enable 90,000 new immigrants to obtain permanent residency status this year.

He said,” “The pandemic has shone a bright light on the incredible contributions of newcomers. These new policies will help those with temporary status to plan their future in Canada, play a key role in our economic recovery and help us build back better. Our message to them is simple: your status may be temporary, but your contributions are lasting—and we want you to stay.”

Since unveiling the highest immigration goals Canada has ever seen, the immigration minister had been hinting at the possibility of promoting immigration for temporary immigrants ever since fall. Mendicino said that the reform would be important to rebuild from a year of fewer immigrants. In 2020, Canada did not accept enough foreigners, and as a consequence, growth in population slowed to levels seen during World War I.

To meet the eligibility requirements, staff must have at least one year of Canadian job experience in a health-care career or another pre-approved necessary occupation to be qualified. International graduates must have graduated from a qualifying Canadian post-secondary degree during the last four years, no sooner than January 2017. Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will start accepting applications falling underneath the following three streams from May 6, 2021:

• 20,000 applications for contract health care staff
• 30,000 applications for temporary jobs in other critical positions.
• 40,000 applications from foreign students who have graduated from a Canadian university.

To meet its 401,000 immigration goals this year, Canada is dependent on other economic class sources to move those already in the country to permanent residency. More people will be eligible to obtain permanent residency this year thanks to services like the Atlantic Immigration Pilot and other federal streams, in addition to the Express Entry scheme and the PNP.
