Visa Crunch

Undoubtedly, with world-class higher education programs in the US, student visa approvals continue hitting records

Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, more than 55,000 Indian students and exchange tourists will be granted student visas in the United States in 2021. Despite several travel obstacles during these unusual times, this number is at an all-time high. International students contributed 44 billion USD to the US economy, according to the latest Open Doors Press Release on an international education exchange, and India remained the second-largest supplier of international students in America.

Many institutions in the United States are anticipating a successful academic year, with many of them welcoming international students, both new and returning, in recent weeks. Embassies and consulates typically start interviewing fall semester students around May. However, the second wave of Covid-19 caused a two-month delay in the start of the student visa session. Visa services were resumed in July when a few restrictions were relaxed, and consular employees worked to exceed their pre-Covid workloads. Due to pent-up demand caused by visa limitations, travel fears, and travel availability since the epidemic, students in India are keener to study abroad in 2021 than in the previous year.

The United States is a desirable destination because of its strong reputation for high-quality postsecondary education and post-graduation professional prospects. The Mentor Conference 2021 Polls performed by Foreign Admits project statistics on study abroad patterns in the current age when the pandemic is slowly receding, and reveal that despite the pandemic, 64 percent of Indian students plan on studying abroad in the United States of America and Canada.

However, one of the key factors that attract people to the United States is the country’s reputation for world-class higher education programs. The United States is home to over half of the world’s top 50 institutions, which pride themselves on small class numbers, highly qualified teachers, and advanced technology and research capabilities. All of Study Group’s university partners in the United States have recently been ranked in the top 9% of The US News Best Colleges League Table, both nationally and regionally.

Engineering, Political Science, International Law, International Relations, Business, Computer Science, and Artificial Intelligence are among the subjects available to students, as are Psychology, Health Sciences, and Arts-based subjects. They can also participate in ground-breaking research that is supported by considerable funding. All of these provide pupils with a competitive advantage once they are ready for the job market.

Furthermore, while studying in the United States, they have the opportunity to contact a varied spectrum of people, improving their capacity to relate with people from different cultures and analyze issues from a global perspective. Universities in the United States are known for their research and development of cutting-edge science and technology concepts. After all, the students here are exposed to some of the world’s brightest brains, broadening their views.

According to the US Mission to India, the American higher education system is diverse, with over 4500 nationally and regionally accredited colleges and universities in the United States, all of which are internationally recognized for the quality of their programs and facilities.
