As it prepares to spread out the red carpet for incoming international students, Western Australia’s international education organization will relaunch its Airport Welcome Service in February.
StudyPerth will relaunch the service on February 5 to assure students are welcomed, linked to a community and network of other students, and feel comforted and welcomed upon arrival. The foundation has asked colleges in the region to provide information on the known interstate or international arrival times of international students and has encouraged students to report their own travel schedules.
According to StudyPerth, the Student Success Program attempts to connect students to various services, activities, and community projects provided by organizations and institutions.
“International students based offshore have faced a range of issues, such as uncertainty due to border closures and separation from friends,” it said in a statement.
“This has significantly impacted the welfare of those students, with many requiring academic, financial, and mental health support. The Service has been designed with this awareness.”
The Airport Welcome Service will operate for six weeks, from late February to mid-March, and will benefit overseas students. Desks will be accessible at Perth Airport’s Terminal 1 and Terminals 3/4. Welcome gifts include StudyPerth apparel, study calendars, sim cards, and Perth fliers and pamphlets.
To staff the welcome service, the organization has hired 12 current international students as compensated ‘Airport Greeters.’
StudyPerth, formerly known as Perth Education City (PEC), was established in 1987 when public academic organizations recognized a need for more cohesive collaboration on international education issues. Currently, StudyPerth is dedicated to collaborating with and uniting its member schools in order to showcase Perth as a top study destination.
The Government of Western Australia’s Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science, and Innovation also strongly supports StudyPerth. StudyPerth takes the lead in developing and promoting the value of international education in Western Australia, establishing Perth as a globally recognized study destination with successful learning routes in a welcoming and dynamic environment.
The existing members of StudyPerth include Western Australia’s six world-class universities, multiple vocational education providers, primary and secondary schools, and English language institutions from both the public and commercial sectors.
StudyPerth welcomes affiliation with relevant organizations in the larger worldwide education business, in addition to our Education Members.
