Students Studying On Government Scholarship Can Now Work Abroad After Studies

Maharastra: For students who have completed higher education under Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj’s Foreign Education Scholarship Scheme, The Maharastra government has given them consent to work abroad after completing their education. Earlier students on government scholarships had to return to India after their studies and work in India.

The condition of returning to India had been termed as unfair by the students. And the students also complained that they will not get the right job or salary that will match their qualifications upon their return.

And because of this, whatever education students have gained through their struggle and hard work in a foreign land will not be utilised properly to illuminate their lives.

According to the Government Resolution (GR) on December 16, some students had also written to the government for post-study visas only after completing their higher education abroad.

An NGO, The Platform, had also sought cancellation of the withdrawal condition. Some students from across the state had also submitted representations in this regard to the Ministry of Social Justice.

Decisions in the Public Interest
The NGO has also said that this decision has now given the opportunity to the youth of Maharashtra under this scheme to work internationally, represent the country, strengthen the state, and strengthen their economic condition.

However, the student will not be entitled to any increase in allowances or return fare at all if he/she is to return to work after this study.

The Platform, NGO member Rajiv Khobragade has said “with this decision many students will get an international job and professional experience”.

The Minister of Special Assistance and Social Justice will continue to take such decisions in the public interest. Similarly, the amount spent by the department on the education of scheduled castes will also be utilized for this purpose in an efficient and proper manner.

They also expect the minister to give several relaxations on the condition of returning home after serving for about two years. Along with this, it is also expected from the students that after making their career high, they will pay back to the society and the country.
