Beginning in early 2022, students and skilled workers from Nigeria and other parts of the world who intend to migrate to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United States, and the United Kingdom will be able to take their International English Language Testing System “from their own home or another suitable location.”
IELTS, one of the most well-known English language examinations in the world for work, study, and migration, announced this on Tuesday in a statement headlined, IELTS offers an at-home testing option. When it launches ‘IELTS Online’ in 2022, the examination board claims that IELTS assessments will no longer be limited to physical tests as they are now.
“The test will have the same material and format as the existing IELTS tests offered by pen and paper and computer.” Part of the statement said, “This includes a real-time face-to-face speaking examination, conducted online by professional IELTS examiners.” IELTS Online, as per the organization, will include all four IELTS Academic skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
It also includes the same rigorous examination by qualified examiners, as well as a speaking test administered by a human examiner, which will provide a true indicator of the test taker’s ability to converse successfully in English.
“IELTS Online is the next stage in enriching the test taker experience around the world,” Christine Nuttall, Managing Director IELTS at Cambridge Assessment English, said in the statement. It will give test-takers more options when taking the IELTS exam.
Test takers will also benefit from faster results since validated results will be accessible three days after the test. We hope that by making the world’s most popular test available online, we will encourage even more individuals to take IELTS and pursue their dreams.”
“By developing IELTS Online, we are bringing all of the existing benefits of IELTS to test-takers and certifying organizations,” Nuttall explained, adding, “IELTS Online will provide flexibility and confidence, using cutting-edge AI and state-of-the-art security features to complement the expertise of IELTS examiners.”
“Over 11,000 organizations trust IELTS as a trustworthy predictor of true to life capacity to communicate in English,” according to the IELTS website. The language test is also accepted in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom for migration purposes.”
“Deliver secure English language examinations to streamline the experience for test-takers, examiners, and proctors,” according to the platform’s video call speaking software. In addition, IELTS’ own proctors will be trained expressly for the new platform, ensuring that IELTS Online tests are accurate.
The real-time face-to-face speaking component of the test will be delivered online by these examiners, and students’ tests will be marked by IELTS’ in-house personnel. In addition to human control, the platform includes AI surveillance “to highlight any wrongdoing.”
The forthcoming rollout will be of specific importance to colleges and universities in significant English-speaking destinations, such as the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, because IELTS is a widely esteemed test that was dramatically affected (along with all other major English-language tests) when the virus outbreak struck, affecting thousands of students and educators around the world. IELTS is the only English-language evaluation service in the United Kingdom that has been approved by UK Visas and Immigration.
