As the government gradually eases admission restrictions and rules, the Dutch authorities have stated that several entry limitations imposed on arrivals from highly high-risk nations, such as the United States and the United Kingdom, will be lifted beginning September 22. Vaccinated Americans, Britons, and other people from high-risk areas can come to the Netherlands without having to undertake self-quarantine, according to a news statement from the Ministry of Health, Welfare, and Sport.
“Nearly 13 million people in the Netherlands have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and more than 11 million are fully vaccinated. Hospital and ICU admissions are stable. The majority of people who are admitted to hospital or who test positive for Coronavirus are still unvaccinated,” the Ministry said, attributing these milestones to the decision for lifting restrictions.
As a result, non-vaccinated travelers are still prohibited from entering the nation, and vaccinated travelers must provide a negative test result in order to enter. Additionally, those aged 13 and up who arrive by plane must complete and submit a health statement. The 1.5-meter social distancing rule has been abolished in the Netherlands, with the exception of limitations on vaccinated travelers from, particularly high-risk locations. They also warned that pubs, restaurants, and hotels could be overcrowded once more.
“Face masks are still required in airports, on planes, trains, buses, trams, and metros, as well as in taxis and other commercial passenger vehicles. In train stations, bus, tram, and metro stop face masks are no longer required,” according to the press release.
In addition, patients with immune system disorders will receive a third dose and booster shots, as recommended by the Netherlands’ Health Council. The easing of limitations comes less than two weeks after the Dutch government declared that, in response to the EU’s request, more restrictive restrictions will be put on US travelers.
Furthermore, the EU Council removed the United States, along with Kosovo, Israel, Lebanon, North Macedonia, and Montenegro, from the list of epidemiologically safe third countries on August 30, citing rapidly rising Coronavirus infection rates. In addition to tighter travel restrictions for these countries, the EU Council recommended that non-essential travel from these areas be barred. Furthermore, according to World Health Organization data from September 16, the Netherlands has reported 10 deaths and 2,041 positive cases of Coronavirus.
COVID-19 infection has claimed the lives of 18,083 Dutch people since the pandemic began, while 1,974,662 have tested positive for the disease.
