The Best Colleges Rankings for 2022 are released by U.S. News & World Report featuring undergraduate nursing programs for the first time

The 2022 U.S. News Best Colleges were revealed today by U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in education rankings. The rankings, which are now in their 37th year, examine almost 1,400 schools and institutions on up to 17 academic quality factors.

“Whether it’s through remote learning, mask-wearing, or vaccine mandates, students and professors continue to feel the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Kim Castro, editor, and top content officer of U.S. News.

“As communities grapple with these issues, U.S. News is committed to disseminating information about the academic excellence of institutions around the country so that prospective students and their families can make well-informed college decisions.”

Huge credit points for schools recording fewer SAT/ACT takers: The number of submissions required for institutions to obtain full credit for their incoming students’ SAT/ACT performance was reduced by U.S. News. Only if the overall SAT and ACT scores recorded to account for less than 50% of the entering class does the school’s worth in the rankings get a 15% deduction. Previously, the cutoff was set at 75%. The change was made to reflect a drop in test submissions in the fall 2020 admissions cycle, which largely predated COVID-19’s impact. For the second year in a straight, U.S. News listed test-blind colleges or those that say they don’t use the SAT or ACT in any way when making admissions choices.
