As of September 7, 2021, Canada will open its borders to fully vaccinated tourists. Travelers must have completed the entire vaccination course. They must also be vaccinated with a vaccine that has been approved by Canada Health. This signifies that travelers must have received two doses of either the Pfizer, Moderna, or AstraZeneca vaccines, or one dose of the Janssen/ Johnson and Johnson vaccine. Other vaccines that have been approved in other parts of the world are as of now being rejected. Furthermore, travelers must have received their most recent dose at least 14 days prior to their trip to Canada.
On August 9, 2021, Canada began allowing fully vaccinated American citizens and permanent residents to enter the country. The Canadian government was able to prepare for the full opening of their border to immunized individuals as a result of this first step. Travelers arriving in Canada must use the ArriveCAN mobile or web application to report their personal and travel information. Even if they are fully inoculated, they will need to show a pre-arrival COVID-19 molecular test result. Travelers may also be randomly selected for a COVID-19 test once they arrive in Canada. They must also show proof of vaccination and show no signs or symptoms of the disease.
Furthermore, if travelers to Canada meet certain criteria, they will be exempt from quarantine. In the event that the border officer determines that they do not comply with the regulations, they will still be required to prepare a quarantine plan.
Unvaccinated children under the age of 12 will be permitted to enter Canada without having to go through quarantine if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian who is fully immunized. Non-vaccinated foreign nationals are not permitted to enter Canada. Temporary workers, international students, diplomats, and others who are traveling for a vital reason are among those who are permitted to enter Canada.
If they are not fully vaccinated, these people must be quarantined for 14 days when they arrive. International flights are only permitted to land at nine Canadian airports: Toronto Pearson International Airport, Montreal-Trudeau International Airport, Vancouver International Airport, Calgary International Airport, Halifax Stanfield International Airport, Quebec City Jean Lesage International Airport, Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport, and Winnipeg International Airport.
Furthermore, flights from India will be prohibited until September 21, and flights from Morocco will be barred until September 29. Those traveling to Canada from India or Morocco will be required to stop in a third country and obtain a negative COVID-19 test prior to continuing to Canada. The COVID-19 test will have to be completed within 72 hours of the final departing flight to Canada.
