Canada aims to decrease family immigration processing time by expanding and employing

Canada is expanding the Case Processing Center in Sydney, Nova Scotia with the ultimate goal of hosting more programs and re-joining families soon. 

The IRCC could find a new office space and hire another 62 representatives, says as a press release. These new representatives will completely remove family category applications from abroad. With these new assets, the IRCC hopes to host more programs and shorten the preparation times extended during the epidemic. 

The Case Processing Center in Sydney is now limited to 30 percent of residences, due to limitations related to Covid. The new office space will allow the IRCC to diminish this limit and will allow more representatives working from afar to return to work. 

The appointment of this new office space is for one year, which will allow the immigration office to adapt to its needs in the years to come. 

Canadian migration officer Marco Mendicino said the increased limit would help the unit return to the one-year level of applying for a partner. He also posted on Twitter about new initiatives, highlighting the general benefits new rates will have for families as Cape Breton residents. 

Neighbors Members of Parliament in addition welcome the news. 

“Extending the Sydney Case Processing Center will do an important job for the 62 people here in Sydney – Victoria, while we encourage our region to move forward and thrive on mobility,” said Jaime Battiste, Sydney – Victoria MP. “I’m determined to see the difference it will make in the area.” 

Mike Kelloway, Member of Parliament for Cape Breton – Canso, also expressed support. 

“The Cape Bretoners play an important role in our migration framework,” Yelloway said in launching the program. “Local authorities at our Case Processing Center around each day invite young Canadians, many of whom currently call Cape Breton home. This announcement will help us expand that exciting culture, expand our capacity to embrace more new Canadians.” 

The Sydney Case Processing Center handles a wide variety of immigration applications. Under the family category movement, they measure applications for out-of-wedlock marriage, customary law, and close support, minor children, adopted children, and different family members.
