Canada: To boost the Multitude of Opportunities for Students to Study Abroad, Seneca receives $5,00,000 Grant

More than 150 Seneca students will be able to study in countries including Thailand, Ecuador, Peru, and Denmark due to the recent Global Skills Opportunity program.

Seneca will be able to extend its faculty-led study abroad programme, which enables students to receive International experience related to their academic degrees, thanks to a $5,00,000 funding from Employment and Social Development Canada.

The Global Skills Opportunity initiative eliminates financial constraints to overseas study, and monies at Seneca will be directed toward students in need. “This much-needed funding will help cover the travel costs that exclude too many students from participating in international experiences,” said Keith Monrose, Executive Director, Seneca International. “We want the students travelling abroad to represent our diverse and vibrant population, not just those who can afford it.”

Veterinary technician students learning at animal rescue centres in Ecuador and fashion students travelling to Peru to learn about the Andean culture and the challenges faced by local designers, thanks to the Global Skills Opportunity program are the overseas opportunities for future students at Seneca. Colleges and Institutes Canada and Universities Canada jointly manage funds for the International Skills Opportunity initiative.

Seneca is addressing great concerns like — rebuilding the economy, equality, and sustainability – while safely navigating the pandemic. A fantastic polytechnic education is being provided, combining challenging academics with practical skills. Students prepare to make their imprint in the world in fields ranging from health care to technology, business to creative arts, community service to arts, and sciences.

Seneca is proud of its experienced teaching, superb staff, and exceptional facilities. The institute has strong industry contacts and offers thousands of co-op and work experiences to prepare graduates for the workforce.
